animation
I have downloaded Pivot animator and currently, I am watching tutorials to learn how to use it. So far, whilst I was 'tinkering' on Pivot, I created a stick figure waving and dancing. I was also able to change the background. Some of the you tube videos of Pivot animations are incredible ,I hope to be able to do something close to that one day. Pivot animator involves a similar method to how cartoonists draw cartoons. Each move has to be conducted through a series of frames and very gradually. You are able to move the body parts of the stick man by moving the red dots. Hopefully my animations will progress from stick men to something far more exciting.
Basic sounds and special effects can also be added to the animations. If they are saved and opened using Windows Movie Maker. A microphone could be used to record voices or music could simply be added.
I think as long as children have the patience they could easily create some brilliant animations. Creating animations on Pivot would have to be during a series of lessons, where children build up their skills and understanding of how it works. It can be time consuming, but just like podcasting, it is as simple or as complex as you make it. The differentiation will be the outcome, the different level of animations the children produce.

Helpful user guides that I have been using to build my skills on Pivot.
These could be adapted and simplified, to be used as laminated help cards during lessons.
