BLIPPIT
app maker
The Blippit app maker allows children to create and publish their own apps.
These are simple infromation or knowledge apps which can be published to blippit planet, which is a safe app sharing community. The blippit software works through a program of logins and is controlled by an admin. This means that, once an app is submitted by a child, it can't be published unless approved by the teacher. The blippit app maker can be accessed on most devices which have access to the internet. This means that children can work on their app at home.
Schools have to pay for access to use Blippit and Blippit planet. They are then able to create user names for each child.
Again, I think that I would definitely have to model for the children how to use blippit. I might also produce a simple user guide or help cards to aid them.
The app maker is great as it creates a purpose for children's learning. It is relevant to their lives and I think it is a very exciting and engaging activity. It is also quite simple to use once you learn your way round it!
I couldn't get a QR code for my app since it needed approving to be published. I did take screenshots whilst I was exploring blippit. There was also an option to preview your app.
Ideas for app topic with my Y6 FPP class:
-Leavers book
-SATs revision
-Micro-organims identification
-Any knowledge based app.
-Up levelling words e.g. Thesaurus
- French phrase book
